Dear Colleague,
I am writing to remind you of several events/changes over the next few months. Please take note!
March 3rd-4th:
MCA sponsored Chiropractic Acupuncture Seminar at the Ramada in Lewiston– If you perform Chiropractic Acupuncture then take advantage of this weekend to get those CCEs that you NEED!
March 31st:
Don’t miss the MCA’s special seminar on how to handle an insurance Audit. Medicare is auditing Maine chiros so attend this seminar and make sure that you are ready for that Audit.
March 31st:
Last day for the Medicare Demo Project. Don’t forget to change your charges and billing as demo45 will no longer be accepted (after that date of service). April 2nd:
Deadline for using the new CMS-1500 form. Contact your Chiro supplier to order forms.
May 4th – 6th:
MCA Spring Convention and Seminar: Please make every effort to attend the business meeting and weekend activities. We will be voting to amend the MCA constitution as well as listen to Dr. Kirk Lee on Sports injuries ( One of the hottest topics in chiropractic today!!!) You will not want to miss it.
May 23rd:
Deadline for using the new 10 digit National Provider Identifier.
After the switch to the NPI is fully implemented, physicians no longer will need different identifying numbers when filing claims with various health plans. But getting ready to use the NPI and the revised CMS-1500 claim form, which accommodates the NPI, is not so simple. In addition to applying for and getting an NPI, you must update your computer system to work with the NPI and to print the NPI on the new 1500 claim form. If you use a claims clearinghouse, make sure it's ready to accept your NPI. CMS has estimated that getting ready can take as long as 120 days. If still need to get your NPI, go to the following website to complete the application. https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/NPPES/Welcome.do
